STAND ALONE
Therse are usually spas which are mounted in the ground ir in a deck or a rockery & normally set down to deck level. They are premoulded in acrylic & come already insulated with a series of jets & air fittings.

Because they are normally set in to the ground or deck, their equipment is normally remote from the spa but they have a control panel on the spa which allows the equipment to be safely operated while people are in the spa.

The equipment normally comes on a self contained skid pack which will have the filter pump, filter, heater & chemical treatment systems already mounted on it.

All you will need to do is to connect the pipework to the spa & equipment & then connect power & gas if necessary.

PORTABLE
Portable spas are on of the best means of owning a spa, especially if you are living in rented housing.
The portable spa comes with its own support & surround system so that it can be set up on any flat surface which will support its weight (approx 4 tonnes or 8800 lbs when full).
The spa comes fuly equiped with series of jets which are connected to a boost pump & which can be operated in various combinations.

The spa will have its own filter pump & filter & chemical treatment systems & a small heater which can keep the water up to use temperature all the time.
The equipment will normally plug into a standard power point but some of the larger ones will require direct wiring.

This type of spa is very efficent to operate & works well because you can use it any time you want at a minutes notice, just unclip the insulated safety cover & hop in.

Many times you will find an odd smell when you take the cover off, this is an accumulation of gases which are trapped in the water because of the cover, just operate the jets or the base air for a couple of minutes before hopping in.

If this does not completely remove the odour, then you will have to check the pH & possibly give the spa a shock dose of chlorine to burn out the accumulated amines which are causing the smell. The other main reason for smells is lack of cleaning of the filter. Do this regularly.
