The steel is Y12 or 1/2" deformed steel bar set at 200mm (8") centers & is supported on cement blocks.
In some cases the engineer may allow the use of S10 or 3/8" Square Twist steel
In the construction using poured concrete floors & masonary block walls, the steel can be the same in the floor & the vertical steel has the blocks threaded over it.
Note the steel bent over at the top to form the beam.
